About Villivakkam
Villivakkam is the biggest state assembly constituency in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Villivakkam covers an area from Annanagar in south and Madavaram in north, Ayanavaram in east and Korattur in west. Since this is within the Chennai City limits and close to Integral Coach Factory & Ambattur Industrial Estate, many number of people have migrated to Villivakkam.


Culture of Villivakkam
Villivakkam has a very rich cultural history. There are three temples in villivakkam which holds a very good history behind and are renowned for its traditional, spiritual and cultural heritage. They are as follows, Agatheeswerar Temple, BaaliAmman Temple and Soumiya Damodara Perumal Temple. There is also a newly arrival to these long history of temples and its the Murgan temple near the Baaliamman Temple. The Masjid -eh -Rahmaniya Mosque and The Sacred Heart Church in Srinivasa Nagar are also places worth visiting. Annual festivals are held hJN Road (100 feet Road) and MTH Road (NH 205) junction, connects Chennai and other town through one side and KHR and New Avadi Road to the other side, reaching Villivakkam by road is very easy form any part of Chennai. And at present subway work is under construction, which was started at Dec 4 2007.

Chennai suburban railway station at Villivakkam is between the segment of Chennai Central and Arakkonam Junction, and just 10 km from Central, there are suburban services to Central, Beach, Mylapore and Annanagar, Avadi , Tiruvallur, Arakkonam. Frequent trains run via Villivakkam.

Other Areas in Villivakkam
Sidco nagar, Rajamangalam, South Jagannatha Nagar, Baba nagar, North Jagannathan Nagar,Rajaji Nagar. Thanthoni Amman Koil Extension and Welcome Colony are the two most giant developed areas in the town. Only 500 people live in this areas but a tata indicom tower at its peek of 132.54 m is situated here it is the tallest region present in Villivakkam. It is near welcome colony and whole of chennai can be seen from it. Recently the 2009 solar eclipse filter camera as fixed at the top of the tower by a space team from Villivakkam Science Society near spencers. Agathiyar nagar,ponnankinaru street and Thirunagar are the biggest areas in Villivakkam zone.
